I know that CAPS is considering yelling in the internet realm, but I know many people that have written in CAPS for years.

I did find, however, an interesting article that many people recognize words by their shape, whether they are spelled correctly or not, and have trouble recognizing words that are written in caps because there is so little variation in the shape. It makes sense, which is probably why typing in all CAPS has become the equivalent of "yelling."
